Debt Solutions Southwest (DSSW) is a debt management business based in the South West of England, providing a full debt management and credit advisory service to individuals and companies.

We believe that potential clients are looking for honesty, integrity and professionalism from their debt advisors and will only make their decision to proceed following a face-to-face meeting. Accordingly, for all potential clients we arrange an initial obligation-free meeting with one of our advisors.

Voluntary code of practice

We have a voluntary code of practice that aims to ensure that our clients are treated fairly, honestly and efficiently. In particular, our policy is to recommend the debt solution that best fits your needs and not one that suits our pockets! We can advise and assist with all options, including formal arrangements, such as IVAs, CVAs, liquidation and bankruptcy; informal arrangements, such as debt management plans; and debt consolidation. However, we are not biased towards any particular solution and will advise you only when we understand your full financial circumstances and when we can come to a measured conclusion about your best way forward.

Charges

We charge for our services, but no charges will be levied by us unless:

  • They are necessary, and
  • You have agreed to them

Note also, in many cases, you do not pay us at all, as our fees come from your the creditors. This will be explained to you at our initial free consultation.

Licenses

DSSW is fully licensed by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to provide debt management and credit broking advice under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. The OFT continuously scrutinises its licensees to ensure that they abide by their responsibilities under the Act.

We are also notified (registered) with the Information Commissioner under the Data Protection Act 1998, which ensures we handle and maintain your personal records in a transparent and open way, including not divulging them to third parties without your knowledge and permission.

Debt Solution Southwest’s principal is John Hawkey, who is a Barrister at Law and qualified accountant with over 25 years of professional experience in Insolvency and Reconstruction and in financial and corporate advice.
